Dunbar RNLI’s lifeboat crew extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of a 55-year-old man who died suddenly on his boat in Dunbar Harbour on Thursday night (July 18).

UK Coastguard paged volunteers to an incident in the harbour at 10.35pm. Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick were also in attendance. The inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched moments later to attend to the boat moored in the harbour. The crew recovered the casualty from the boat but, although Scottish Ambulance Service were also on scene, the man was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police Scotland were conducting inquiries into the cause of death.

Dunbar lifeboat coxswain Gary Fairbairn said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the man’s family at this very sad time.”
