Aberdeen coastguard paged both Dunbar lifeboats on Friday evening when they received a mayday call from a small pleasure boat. Once Aberdeen made contact with the casualty it was understood they had suffered engine failure just west of the harbour and were drifting towards the rocks. Once the ILB was on the scene they discovered the casualty had deployed his anchor to stop him from colliding with the rocks. After the anchor was recovered and the ILB had the vessel on tow Dunbar’s ALB was told to stand down. The vessel was towed back into the harbour where the skipper could safely repair the problem with the engine.
