Dunbar's lifeboat volunteers joined police and coastguard teams on Tuesday night in a search for a missing youth reported to be in a distressed state.
UK Coastguard called for the lifeboat at 11.18pm to assist shore-based teams from Dunbar and North Berwick. The inshore (ILB) D-class Jimmy Miff launched shortly afterwards.
The teenager had been reported heading towards the harbour area by witnesses concerned for his wellbeing.
The ILB crew conducted a search of the harbour area, then headed east to Dunbar Golf Course, before continuing west to Long Craigs. There was no sign of a person matching the youth's description and UK Coastguard stood down the lifeboat and shore teams shortly after 1am on Wednesday.
Police were continuing their inquiries to locate the individual.
