Mystery of empty boat drifting – second incident for the craft in a week.
Dunbar’s RNLI lifeboat volunteers recovered a local boat spotted drifting off the harbour with no one on board.
The incident came a week after the same 16 foot boat was targeted by thieves and had about £1200 worth of gear stolen from its locked cabin.
The boat was spotted drifting just outside the harbour entrance by a member of the public about 9.30 on Sunday morning. Coastguards requested assistance from the town’s RNLI inshore lifeboat which launched and took the drifting boat under tow and returned it to the harbour.
It is understood the boat’s mooring ropes had been cut
