Last Thursday evening Dunbar's ILB was paged at 16:34 when a local fishing vessel broke down in the harbour.
The fishing vessel had returned to the harbour after a days fishing at sea. When the skipper approached the pier approximately 3-4 meters away the boat suffered engine problems. With the wind blowing off land this made the vessel drift towards the middle of the harbour. There were concerns that it may end up hitting the yachts on the other side off the harbour. Once the ILB was launched the vessel had already made contact with one of the yachts. The inshore lifeboat crew quickly set up the tow rope and proceeded to tow the fishing vessel away from the moorings towards the pier. Shore crew were on hand to help tie the vessel off.
After the vessel was safely secured the ILB was recovered and made ready for service.
