Dunbar’s lifeboat volunteers had an early call out this morning (Wed) to come to the aid of a fishing trawler that had suffered engine trouble.
UK Coastguard paged the volunteer crew at 6.43am after the local boat ran into difficulties a mile north east of Dunbar Harbour. The vessel, with three persons on board, was being towed by another boat but wasn’t able to enter the harbour.
The all-weather lifeboat (ALB) was launched from Torness Power Station at 7.21am and was on scene within minutes. The lifeboat crew established its own tow and brought the trawler safely into the harbour.
The ALB was refuelled and ready for service at 8.55am - in time for our youngest crew member Kieran to still make some classes at Dunbar Grammar School!
