Both boats launched to reports of missing person 15/4/16

On Friday evening at 22:14 the volunteers of Dunbar Lifeboat station were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard after Police Scotland requested the assistance from both boats to conduct a search west of Dunbar, with concerns for a missing person believed to have last been seen in the area.

The Inshore lifeboat and its crew were launched and requested to search from Dunbar harbour west towards Belhaven beach as close to the shore as possible. Once the crew of the all weather lifeboat had made the 6.6 mile journey to Torness the crew quickly made the 'John Neville Taylor'  ready and under way. While both boats were on scene, white para flares were used to illuminate the area, as well as search lights. Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick also attended along with Police Scotland dog units who searched along the promenade and along the bottom of the cliffs off Winterfield.

After an intense search of the area on foot and by sea, the missing person was located safe and well near their home address. This was a well coordinated search by all services and a great team effort with a good outcome.

Both Dunbar Lifeboats returned to station were they made ready for service a short time after.
