On a sea survival course at The Lifeboat College in Poole, we practise with rafts like these:
But for Lifeboat Day this year, we were thinking something more along the lines of this:
The raft race will start at 15:00 sharp on Lifeboat day, with competitors starting between the two buoys at the bridge. The rafts will make their way (hopefully) towards the castle, before rounding the buoy and making their way back to the start/finish line.
Prize presentation for the winners will take place on the main stage at approximately 16:30.
UPDATE: Due to the helicopter attending lifeboat day this year, we have decided to postpone the Raft Race and hold it as a separate event later in the year. Thanks to everyone who has shown an interest. We will let you know the new date once it has been set..
